Undaunted by the dire weather prediction, 14 brave souls met at Babcock landing on Saturday, May 14th to get up close and personal with our Looking Glass river. (One got very close).

Among the participants were local teachers, students, Drain commission representatives, Phase II consultants, a Scuba director, and several members of Friends of the Looking Glass. In spite of the drizzle and several tree obstacles, everyone enjoyed the A.M. trip.

At about 1:30pm we landed in Dewitt and had a fabulous lunch and hot coffee. A few paddlers departed and 4 FLG members joined up for the trip to Wacousta. The sun came out and we paddled on with a stop at Larry Arbanas's home on the river for a warm-up of Plum Brandy from Japan.

We landed at Heritage Park about 6:00pm dry and enthused about the trip.

Nature observed:
Several blue herons accompanied us most of the way; lots of geese and ducks, turtles basking on logs in the sunshine, and a beautiful display of trillium on a hillside bank.
